Interfax News Agency Novosibirsk, at the recently held roundtable on the prospects of trade development between China and the Siberian Federal District, the president of the Siberian Road Transport Association stated that by 2020, Sino-Russian logistics transportation across Kazakhstan will increase to 30 million tons, road transportation volume was 3 million tons per year. At present, the logistics transportation of Sino-Russian transit through Kazakhstan is about 10 million tons per year. A few years ago, road transport from Russia to China across Kazakhstan was still prohibited, but now it has gradually started, and the volume of goods exported by the two countries is basically similar to each other when the goods imported from China to Russia have begun to decrease. Experts previously predicted that when Russia's relations with the West, Ukraine and Turkey are tense, the volume of freight between China and Russia will increase. However, in the first quarter of 2016, the data will remain at the level of the same period last year. The biggest advantage of transiting Kazakhstan to China from the Siberian Federal District is that the transportation distance is shortened and customs duties are reduced.
