Japanese media said that Japan's Yamato Holdings (YAMATO HOLDINGS) Co., Ltd. will cooperate with China's Jingdong Group. Chinese consumers place an order online, and the goods can be delivered as soon as 4 days from Japan. In China, the middle tier with purchasing power has increased dramatically, and Japanese-made cosmetics and daily necessities are popular because of their quality assurance. Japanese logistics companies provide cross-border express delivery, which can bring more business opportunities to Japanese companies.

"Nihon Keizai Shimbun" published a report titled "Japan YAMATO Logistics Company Will Deliver Cross-Border Delivery to China" on April 6, stating that Yamato’s international logistics branch will cooperate with JD.com and will start to provide services to China in May. "Cross-border e-commerce transaction (EC)" business. This is the first time that a large Chinese online seller has cooperated with a large Japanese logistics company in the field of cross-border e-commerce transactions.

According to reports, in China, Yamato will act as an agent for fussy customs clearance procedures, thereby shortening the delivery time. Yamato will handle all the procedures for shipping from Japan to the receiving point in China, and China Post will be responsible for the transportation process within China. China Post is a partner of Yamato, and its transportation network covers the whole country. Prior to this, most Japanese online stores entrusted logistics companies to deliver goods, and it took an average of 8 days from order to delivery.

Yamato will make effective use of its bonded warehouse in Shanghai, China, to reduce the cost of bringing goods into China, such as value-added taxes and import duties. Taking ordinary cosmetics as an example, the cost of express delivery can be reduced by 20% to 30% compared with the situation where companies entrust logistics companies to deliver them. Yamato hopes to use JD.com as a breakthrough point to increase cooperation with Chinese online sellers.

According to the report, as the middle tier with purchasing power in China has rapidly increased, the cross-border e-commerce transaction market that provides convenience for purchasing overseas products has also continued to expand. More and more Japanese companies, such as Kao and Lion, choose to open online stores in China. In 2015, the sales of goods shipped from Japan amounted to about 800 billion yen (about 47 billion yuan), which is equivalent to the amount spent by Chinese tourists visiting Japan. There are also predictions that it will reach 1.4 trillion yen (approximately 82.2 billion yuan) in 2018.

JD Group has a 20% share of China's online shopping market, second only to Alibaba Group. Due to the popularity of Japanese products, JD.com also opened a special shopping channel for Japanese products. Shen Haoyu, the person in charge of JD.com, emphasized that Japanese products have a high international reputation, and the demand of Chinese consumers will continue to grow in the future.

Yamato and JD.com will also cooperate to support Japanese companies to open online stores on JD.com. For Japanese SMEs that have just opened a store on JD.com, JD.com will post ads on social networking sites for free.

According to the report, for Japanese companies selling goods on Chinese shopping websites, the adjustment of the Chinese government's industrial policy will also bring benefits. The Ministry of Finance of China and others are expected to adjust the taxation method for cross-border e-commerce transactions on the 8th. Tax-free personal imports have decreased, and foreign companies that pay taxes under the general trade rules feel more fair.

After the government adopts the new taxation method, the investigation and punishment of counterfeit goods will also be strengthened. Some people also believe that Japanese companies will be in a more advantageous position if they cooperate with "formal shopping platforms" such as JD.com.
